Kiron Bhatia (General Surgeon)
GENERAL SURGEON, ENDOSCOPIST & BARIATRIC SURGEON
Kiron is a General Surgeon. He also sub-specialises in upper gastrointestinal and bariatric Surgery.
He trained at St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne with subspecialty fellowships at the Austin Hospital, Monash Medical Centre and the National Cancer Institute Hosptial in Tokyo.
Kiron is a Consultant Surgeon at the Austin Hospital. He also works at Northpark Private Hospital and Knox Private Hospital. Kiron is actively involved in research, developing management protocols and outcomes assessment tools. He is also actively involved in the training of junior surgeons and nurses at the Austin hospital and believes appropriate training to be pivotal in the future direction of surgery.
He has a keen interest in minimally invasive surgery including laparoscopic (key-hole), Da Vinci robotic surgery and single incision laparoscopic surgery. He is a founding member of OSSANZ, IFSO and ANZGOSA being experienced in adjustable gastric banding, gastric bypass, mini gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy.
Kiron can perform gastroscopies, colonoscopies, hernia repairs, gall bladder surgery, vasectomies, circumcisions, upper GI surgery, cancer surgery, robotic surgery and weight loss surgery.
Kiron works closely with our GPs to provide urgent consultations or urgent surgery when necessary.

Ivan Bhaskar (Neurosurgeon)
NEUROSURGERY- BRAIN AND SPINE
Ivan Bhaskar is a highly qualified Australian trained Neurosurgeon with a double degree in Neurosurgery and sub-specialization in keyhole spine surgery. He also performs complex brain surgery.
Mr Bhaskar has also completed a Spine Fellowship and has expertise in keyhole spine surgeries with state of the art equipment to aid such surgeries for the management of back pain and complex spinal conditions. In addition to performing robotic spinal surgeries at the Epworth Hospital and The Valley Private Hospital, he has trained further to provide Endoscopic spine surgeries in selected cases.
He has had extensive experience with complex brain and spinal surgery having worked for the last 15 years in this specialized field.
Apart from being caring and compassionate, Ivan delivers a holistic based approach when it comes to patient care. This combined with operating at hospitals that have state of the art equipment/imaging services has ensured great patient outcomes.
Nigel Hartnett (Knee Surgeon)
Nigel did his medical degree at Auckland University. He then came to Melbourne to pursue Orthopaedic Surgery training.
Nigel then went on to do subspecialty fellowship training in Knee Surgery under Dr John Bartlett, Prof Julian Feller, Dr Hayden Morris and Dr Tim Whitehead.
Currently, Nigel only does Knee surgery and deals with all knee related issues. He specialises in knee arthroscopy, knee reconstruction, knee replacement, complex revision knee replacement and all other knee conditions. Nigel sees paediatric and adult patients.
He holds memberships in the Australian Orthopaedic Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports medicine.
Nigel’s research interest include new technologies in knee joint replacement. He is very committed to providing patient centred treatment.
Andy Jothibabu (Psychiatrist)
Andy is a qualified Psychiatrist and has worked in South Australia and Victoria. Andy treats everyone over the age of 16.
He has a Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
Andy has experience in treating psychotic illness, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, depression and post traumatic stress. His special interest is treatment of mental health issues associated with drug and alcohol use.
Andy has a holistic approach to treating patients with medication, supportive and cognitive behavioural psychotherapies. He encourages his patients to focus on quality of life and well being whilst recovering from their mental health issues.
Andy also works at Northpark Private Hospital, where he has admitting rights. A wide range of quality inpatient, day programs and outreach services are provided at this facility for mental illness. Andy will be able to help patients use these facilities as required.
Leonard Shan (Vascular Surgeon)
Dr Leonard Shan is an academic vascular and endovascular surgeon at St. Vincent's and Epworth Hospitals and a senior lecturer in the Department of Surgery at The University of Melbourne. He is trained in all aspects of vascular surgery, including open surgical, hybrid, and endovascular procedures.
Leonard is internationally recognised for his expertise on quality of life after surgery. He has authored over 30 publications (h-index 16) in some of the highest-ranking journals in medicine and surgery, including Circulation and Annals of Surgery. Leonard's work has been cited by over 1000 peer-reviewed journal articles. He also recently completed his PhD on quality of life in lower extremity arterial disease which was conducted under the tutelage of world-renowned surgeons Professor Alun Davies and Professor Peter Choong. Leonard currently sits on the editorial board of the Annals of Vascular Surgery and is a member of the Australian Cardiovascular Research Alliance.
Leonard takes pride in providing high quality and accessible care to both public and private patients. At St. Vincent's Hospital, Leonard helped to develop the dedicated veins service which significantly decreases waiting times for venous intervention. Leonard also embraces multidisciplinary care for his patients. He is an integral member of the high-risk foot service at St. Vincent's Hospital for the comprehensive treatment and prevention of foot wounds and ulcers.

Patrick Moloney (Obstetrician and Gynaecologist)
Dr Patrick Moloney is a specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and founder of the Ballarat Women’s Clinic. He has more than 20 years of medical experience and uses up-to-date leading practices to inform his treatment. He spends time with you – listening, building trust and rapport – to develop a plan that is based on best medical practice for your individual needs.
Dr Pat has helped more than 3500+ babies to be born. He is known for his gentle, calm manner. He is the founder of the online pregnancy and birth program, GrowMyBaby and host of The Kick Pregnancy Podcast, that now has more than 1 million downloads. Patients can see Dr Pat at Gisborne Specialist Centre for their antenatal care appointments with delivery at St John of God Ballarat or Ballarat Base hospital.
As a gynaecologist, Dr Pat is a skilled diagnostician and works with people with pelvic pain, endometriosis, pelvic floor dysfunction, prolapse and incontinence. He offers treatment at Neal Street for a range of conditions including abnormal cervical screening, IUD insertion and contraception plans. He offers advanced laparoscopic surgery for excision of endometriosis, fibroid and myeloma removal and hysterectomy at various public and private hospitals.

Yasmin Sheikh (Geriatrician)
Yasmin is a Specialist in Elderly Medicine. She did her basic medical training after her undergraduate degree. She undertook her Specialist training in Geriatrics at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Western Health. She spent a considerable amount of time dealing with complex issues in the elderly during this time.
She sees patients over the age of 65 and deals with complex co-morbid conditions. She specialises in optimising medications and managing ongoing medical care for these patients.
Yasmin has a special interest in cognition, dementia and continence issues. She also does comprehensive geriatric assessments and management of geriatric syndromes. She approaches the patient with a holistic attitude and believes in good communication with the referring GPs.
Yasmin bulk bills all her consultations. All GP referrals are accepted.
James Mimnagh (Psychiatrist)
James is a Consultant Psychiatrist. He started his working life as a junior doctor in the UK and Ireland. He developed his love of Psychiatry in medical school and maintained this throughout his training. He started working in Psychiatry in the UK, prior to moving to Australia in 2005.
Since moving to Australia, he has worked in NSW, Tasmania and Victoria. He has completed his Specialist training in Psychiatry in Australia and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry.
James deals with patients 18 years and over. He does general adult psychiatry and psychiatry of the older adult. His expertise is in the management of anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders and adjustment disorders. James has also worked in specialised eating disorder units, both in the UK and Australia.
When treating patients, James believes in a holistic approach to the patient. He considers biological, psychological, social and cultural aspects of mental illness and their treatments.
He is working at this clinic 4 days a week. James also has a public hospital appointment at Bendigo Hospital.
In his spare time, James enjoys collecting art and antiques. He is looking forward to serving the local community and will be accepting all GP referrals.
Tim Price (ENT Surgeon)
Tim did his undergraduate medical degree from Grooteschuur Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa in 1993. His specialist training in ENT Surgery was on the East of England rotation in the UK. This was based at Addenbrooke’s Hospital (Cambridge University Hospital). He received excellent training in all aspects of adult and paediatric surgery on the rotation. There was a strong emphasis on Otology (ear surgery) at both Addenbrooke’s Hospital (Mr Axon, Gray and Moffat) and Ipswich Hospital ( Mr Yung). He was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in London in 2006.
Tim’s training in Ear surgery was complemented by an Otology Fellowship under Mr Moffat, a world renowned skull base and ear surgeon, at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in 2006/7.
For the next seven years, he worked as a Consultant ENT Surgeon with a special interest in otology and balance disorders at Dorset County Hospital, in Dorchester, England.
Tim moved to Melbourne in August 2013 to enjoy the sunshine! He currently works as an ENT Surgeon at Western Health and Northpark Private Hospital.
Tim lives in Melbourne with his wife and children. He enjoys being a father and is an avid sports fan.
Tim provides a comprehensive general paediatric and adult ENT service. He also performs surgery for the removal of skin lesions of the face, ears and neck, with local skin flap repairs if required. Over time, he developed special interests in ENT Surgery.
He has developed a special interest in adult and paediatric ear surgery (Otology), particularly in mastoid revision and reconstruction surgery and hearing restoration.
At present Tim is one of very few surgeons offering surgery to obliterate troublesome mastoid cavities and rebuild the ear canal. He does this using a prosthetic material (BonAlive granules).
Tim also performs cholesteatoma surgery and Ossiculoplasy surgery, reconstructing the hearing mechanism using Titanium implants. He performs Stapedectomy surgery for Otosclerosis.

He has also presented papers at 9 international meetings and has a further 5 poster presentations.
He is a Member of the Academy of Surgical Educators at the Royal Australasian College of surgeons and an Honorary Clinical Fellow in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences at the University of Melbourne. He is therefore involved in teaching Undergraduate Medical Students in the NorthWest Academic Centre at Western Health and post graduate ENT Registrars on the Victoria training rotation.
Sudheshan Sundaralingam (Urologist)
Sudheshan Sudaralingamis a general urologist with special interest in the management of prostate diseases, minimally invasive stone procedures and genito-urinary tract cancer surgery.
He holds tertiary public teaching hospital appointments as a Consultant Urologist at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Northern Health. His private urological practice is based at Northpark Private Hospital where he regularly consults and performs operative procedures. Sudheshan also operates at St Vincent’s Private hospital and Epworth Freemason’s hospital.
Sudheshan is competent in all aspects of urological surgery and offers endoscopic services and open / laparoscopic / robotic urological procedures.
His advanced training in urology was undertaken in multiple elite urological centers in Melbourne and Sydney. He works very closely in a multi-disciplinary team which includes oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, physiotherapists, sexual health specialists and continence specialists to provide optimal care for the urological patient.

Usman Mahmood (Nephrologist)
Dr Usman Mahmood is an experienced Australian trained Kidney Specialist (Nephrologist). He underwent post-graduate training in various public hospitals across Victoria, Northern Territory and Queensland including the Renal Transplant unit at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane.
He has authored a number of book chapters and has published in various peer-review journals. Usman is a current Editor with Intech Open, the world’s leading publisher of open access books and recently edited a book titled “Fluid and Electrolyte Disorders”.
Dr Mahmood is passionate about teaching and plays an active role in the education and training of medical students and junior doctors. He also holds title of Associate Lecturer with the University of Melbourne. In addition to private practice across Metropolitan Melbourne, Usman holds public appointment in Nephrology at Western Health, Northern Health and Goulburn Valley Health.
Usman has a range of experience in different areas of Nephrology and General Medicine. Additionally, he can speak four languages (English, Urdu, Punjabi & Hindi) and is well equipped to look after patients from sub-continent background.
Dr Mahmood welcomes referrals in all areas of Nephrology and has special interest in management of resistant hypertension, type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome.
Omar Al-Mukhtar (cardiologist)
Dr. Omar Al-Mukhtar is a cardiologist based in Melbourne and Gisborne who specialises in general, interventional, and structural heart diseases.
Dr. Al-Mukhtar obtained the Australian Medical Council (AMC) Certificate in 2012, following which he trained in various high-profile hospitals in Victoria and obtained the fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (RACP) in cardiology in 2020. To further sub-specialise in interventional and structural heart interventions he undertook three clinical fellowships at Western Health (2021), Monash Heart (2022) and the Victorian Heart Hospital (2023).
Omar is also interested in clinical research and clinical trials for new therapies and technologies in the area of cardiovascular medicine. He completed a Master’s degree in Clinical Trials Research from the University of Sydney in 2022 and participated in recruitment for many international clinical trials. He also published research articles in peer-reviewed international journals and is involved with education of junior doctors in the field of cardiology.
He is available to provide consultations on patients with wide variety of clinical concerns including chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations, cardiovascular risk assessment, hypertension, lipids disorders and valvular/ structural heart disease.

Ahmed Al-Kaisey (Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist)
Ahmed is a consultant cardiologist and electrophysiologist who is passionate about providing holistic and evidence-based treatments for cardiac disorders to his patients. In addition to general cardiology, Ahmed sub-specialises in the management of heart rhythm disorders including atrial fibrillation (AF), premature atrial and ventricular ectopics, supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), and ventricular arrhythmias. He also implants and manages cardiac devices including pacemakers, defibrillators and implantable loop recorders.
Ahmed completed his cardiology training at Austin Health before undertaking a cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. He recently completed a 12 months clinical fellowship at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London. Ahmed completed a PhD through the University of Melbourne focused on understanding the mechanisms of atrial fibrillation. He was supported by the prestigious National Heart Foundation/National Health and Medical Research Council Scholarships. He has authored over 40 peer reviewed papers in high impact journals and won several awards at local and international conferences.
Outside of medicine, Ahmed enjoys spending time with his family and 2 young children. In 2017, he took up running and is on a mission to run a sub 4 hour marathon and a sub 100 minutes half marathon in the near future!

Manjeet Sandhu (Gastroenterologist)
Dr Manjeet is a Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist. She graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine with Honours from The University of Melbourne before going on to complete her PhD in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) at Monash University.
She has extensive training in all areas of gastroenterology, with special interests in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), iron deficiency, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GORD), bowel cancer screening and liver disease.
Dr Manjeet consults and performs endoscopic procedures throughout Melbourne’s East and South Eastern suburbs and central Gippsland. She also holds a public appointment at Monash Health.
Patients are seen within a short time frame for initial consultation, with procedures generally being booked within 2-3 weeks following consultation (if required).

Joanna Lenaghan (Foot and Ankle Surgeon)
Dr Joanna Lenaghan is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon, sub-specialising in foot and ankle surgery. She holds a public appointment at the Northern Hospital, as well as an appointment to the Court of Examiners for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Dr Lenaghan treats all patients with care and consideration, as well as technical excellence and knowledge from over twelve years of specialist clinical experience.
After graduating from Medicine at The University of Melbourne in 1999, she pursued academic interests alongside her clinic work, being awarded a Masters of Surgery by Research from University of Melbourne in 2005, as well as her Diploma of Surgical Anatomy from Melbourne University Private in 2004. Dr Joanna Lenaghan achieved her Fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery through the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 2011.
Throughout her training she has had roles working at hospitals across Melbourne, regional Victoria, Tasmania, Portland USA and Nairobi, Kenya.
Her interest in education and teaching has continued with roles as Anatomy Tutor at University of Melbourne, Senior Lecturer at Monash and Deakin Universities and Honorary Senior Lecturer at University of Melbourne.
She has been an Orthopaedic trainee supervisor at both Maroondah Hospital and The Northern Hospital.
Dr Joanna Lenaghan spent the last twelve years committed to her work in Foot and Ankle Surgery, regularly attending conferences, workshops and collaborating with colleagues to offer patients the highest level of care. She has an interest in arthroscopic and minimally invasive foot and ankle surgery, forefoot reconstruction, trauma and sports injuries, foot deformity and reconstruction.
Dr Joanna Lenaghan is a second-generation Orthopaedic Surgeon and is one of five Lenaghan surgeons.
Shav Rupasinghe (Shoulder and Upper Limb Surgeon)
Mr Shavantha (Shav) Rupasinghe is a highly experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in shoulder and upper limb conditions. He consults and operates in Melbourne’s north and west, working publicly at Northern Health and Werribee Mercy and privately at St. Vincent’s Werribee and Fitzroy, Northern Private and Northpark Private.
Shav earned his medical degree from the University of Auckland and completed orthopaedic training in New Zealand, becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2018. He then pursued three years of subspecialty training in Sports Surgery (Bristol, UK), Upper Limb Surgery (Wrightington), and Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist, and Hand Surgery (Hand and Upper Limb Centre, London, Ontario).
Shav has worked with world-leading upper limb surgeons such as Dr. George Athwal, Professor Graham King, Mr. Adam Watts and Mr. Mike Hayton. His expertise includes both surgical and non-surgical treatment of shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand conditions, including rotator cuff tears, shoulder & elbow instability, arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome. He also performs trauma surgery for injuries affecting the upper limb as well as joint replacements of the shoulder, elbow, hand, and wrist.
